What is the Data Science Training program and what can you accomplish as a student?

The Data Science program at AdventHealth is 33 weeks in length, and prepares students for entry-level positions in big data and adjacent professions. The curriculum is spread across 10 in-depth courses ranging from basic statistics to machine learning and modeling.

Some of the topics you will cover include:

  • Statistical Programming in R
  • Metrics and Data Processing
  • Data Wrangling and Visualization
  • Machine Learning and Modeling

At the end of the program, students will select a real-world data subject, students form teams and begin to wrangle, mine, and analyze their accrued data, ultimately publishing their findings on GitHub and Kaggle.

Data Science

Outcomes

Upon completing the 33-week Data Science program at Regis University, students will have a strong understanding of Python Programming, Statistical Programming in R, Tableau, and SQL.

In addition to the highly-coveted skills listed above, students learn the importance of teamwork and collaboration in the workplace, how to best communicate across organizational groups, and a slew of other problem solving skills necessary for professional success.

Skills Learned

As a graduate of this program, you can expect to bring a variety of applied mathematics and computer science-based skills to your current or future career, which include:

  • Effectively gathering insights from and creating databases in SQL
  • Programming in both Python and R
  • Turning data into beautiful visuals using Tableau
  • Cloud computing to manage Big Data
  • Performing machine learning algorithms in Python
  • Mastering data modeling
  • Project managing using Agile and Waterfall
